Struggling with dyslexia at 19, I found ways to overcome it and succeed in my academic and professional life.

I never thought I would be diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 19. Throughout my school years, I struggled with reading and writing, but I always attributed it to lack of interest or motivation. It wasn't until I started college that I realized something was seriously wrong. I found myself spending twice as long as my peers on assignments and still not achieving the same results. It was frustrating and demoralizing. After a series of tests and evaluations, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. At first, I was in denial and felt embarrassed, but with the help of supportive friends, family, and professionals, I learned to embrace my dyslexia and find ways to work around it. I started using assistive technology, such as speech-to-text software and audiobooks, which significantly improved my academic performance. I also sought out a tutor specializing in dyslexia who helped me develop personalized strategies for studying and organizing my thoughts. Today, I am proud to say that I have graduated from college and am pursuing a successful career, despite my dyslexia. It hasn't been easy, but I've learned that dyslexia doesn't define me or limit my potential.
